Conscious Relationships

This week we'll do our balance charts, set our goals, and then have a look at relationships.

"Hell is other people," said Sartre. Outside its context, that sounds very bitter. But his point was that if you let your relationship with a person become poisoned, you can only experience them as "hell". You know how the more you know someone the more they bug you, or the more faults you find? There's a vicious circle. You end up exasperated - if ONLY they'd change, everything will be fine.

But we can't fix other people. Not possible. If you sit there saying "You get rid of the poison in our relationship, it's your fault anyway," nothing will change.

What we can do is have conscious relationships with the people in our lives. We'll be finding out how in this workshop!
